Arunachala-Ramana

O Arunachala! Embrace me closely so that the I-Thou distinction ceases, and grant me the state of eternal joy.

Thy Jugglery!

Even when the thieves of the five senses break in
upon me, art Thou not still in my Heart, Oh Arunachala?

One art Thou without a second; who then could dare
elude Thee and come in? This is only Thy jugglery, Oh
Arunachala!

verses 11&12, Akshara Mana Malai

"Seek my grace within the Heart. I will drive away your darkness and show you the light. This is my responsibility."

from Bhagavan's Promises

O Arunachala! As a magnet draws iron, draw me to yourself: hold me fast, be one with me.

O Arunachala! Ocean of compassion manifesting as a mountain, have mercy on me, give me your Grace.

"The true Bhagavan resides in your Heart as your true Self. This is who I truly am." ~ Sri Ramana Maharshi

Prayers to God are only selfish in the beginning, yet they not only fulfil one's desires but also purify the mind so that devotion to God grows in intensity and the devotee desires nothing more than God. Then God shows His Grace by manifesting as his Guru.
It is enough that one surrenders oneself. Surrender is to give oneself up to the original cause of one's being ... One's source is within oneself. Give yourself up to it. That means that you should seek the source and merge in it.
~ Sri Ramana Maharshi, Talks
Fond, foolish-heart of mine, long have you known
That your sure strength is Ramana alone.
And yet, forgetting him, you have your own
Destruction sought so far. Give up now straight,
Now, though already late,
Give up at one sharp wrench and utterly,
The world and dwell on him unceasingly.
~ Sri Muruganar
To remember and to recount the essence and glory of the Master's words of wisdom is the major duty of a devout disciple. ~ Sri Kunjuswami

Self-enquiry

For all thoughts the source is the 'I' thought. The mind will merge only by Self-enquiry 'Who am I?' The thought 'Who am l?' will destroy all other thoughts and finally kill itself also. If other thoughts arise, without trying to complete them, one must enquire to whom did this thought arise. What does it matter how many thoughts arise? As each thought arises one must be watchful and ask to whom is this thought occurring. The answer will be 'to me'. If you enquire 'Who am I?' the mind will return to its source (or where it issued from). The thought which arose will also submerge. As you practice like this more and more, the power of the mind to remain as its source is increased.
~ Sri Ramana Maharshi, Gems from Bhagavan
One who has wisely chosen the straight path of Self-inquiry,
can never go astray;
for like the bright, clear Sun,
the Self-Awareness reveals itself to whoever turns towards it.
~ Sri Muruganar, Garland of Guru's Sayings
Once, a group of devotees made preparations for a pilgrimage. They came to Muruganar and asked him whether he would be interested in joining them.

Muruganar replied, "The moment I set eyes on Bhagavan, who is the Sun of Self-Awareness, my eyes became blinded by the brilliance of his Form. Now, I cannot see anything or anybody other than my Bhagavan. This being the case, of what use would a pilgrimage be, for me?"
